May 21, 2010 —
The Lakeside Varsity Cheerleaders won the 2010 KCAA State Cheerleading Championship held at Georgetown College. They performed a 2 1/2 Routine and a 90 second plain cheer. "They were absolutely at the top of their game", coach Jody Weaver stated. "We worked really hard, and they were determined to win this year, after receiving runner up last year. I am very proud of these young ladies."
Earlier this season, the cheerleaders were crowned the Region 4 Cheerleading Champs as well.
Taylor Conn, Farah Weaver, and Allie Winkleman were named as the All State Cheerleaders. Each athlete on the squad maintains a 3.0 GPA, however several girls were awarded the KCAA Academic Awards which require a GPA opf 3.8-4.0. The Academic winners were Allie Winkleman, Alyssa Myers, Taylor Conn, Emily Cook, and Abigail Kenney.
The Cheerleaders would like to thank all their friends, family, and the community for supporting them!
The Lakeside Christian Academy Little Falcons is a new team that was formed this year. Basic gymnastics, dance, and stunting skills were taught to Kindergartin through forth graders. The 2009-2010 Little Falcons quickly became one of the "crowd favorites". Coach Jody Weaver stated, "They had lots of fun, but really blew my mind with their talent. I just can't believe how quick these kids pick up on things. They did a really good job, and I am so proud of them." The Little Falcons ended their season at the athletic banquet in March.
