The Lady Vikings had some time off this week to prepare for a busy weekend.
On Thursday (after press time) the gals in green traveled to Bath County to face the 4-3 Lady Lions.
“I am really happy with the season so far,” Coach Steve Walters said in a pre-game interview. “We will know better tonight because I have told the girls from the beginning that the only regular season games I am concerned with are the district games. We want to focus on just winning the district.”
Rowan has done a great job of that in the past. According to Walters, the Lady Vikings have never lost a district game.
“We already beat Fleming County and then the night before, Fleming had beat Bath,” Walters said. “So that puts us two games ahead. If we beat Bath tonight we will be sitting pretty.”
Bath had the home-court advantage on Thursday night. The Lady Lions were hoping for their first-ever win over Rowan.
The Lady Vikings will continue their road trip today (Friday) to attend the Lafayette Invitational. Rowan will face Lexington Christian at 6:30 p.m. and Anderson at 7:30 p.m. The outcomes of Friday night’s match-ups will determine Saturday play.
