Oct. 12, 2012 — Dr. John Edward Kleber, professor emeritus at Morehead State University, will present “Blood, Buses and Beyond the Stars” a look at the 125 years of MSU history Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. at historic Button Auditorium.
Dr. Kleber was hired in 1968 as an assistant professor of history at MSU. He retired 28-years later in May 1996.
He was director of the Academic Honors Program (1973-1988) and interim dean of the Caudill College of Humanities (1993-1995). Dr. Kleber received both the Outstanding Teacher (1982) and Distinguished Researcher (1993) Awards from Morehead State.
The Louisville native was the recipient of the Outstanding Service Medal by the United States Army (1971), the Governor's Outstanding Kentuckian Award (1992), and the Catholic Alumni Award by the Archdiocese of Louisville (2002).
He is the editor of six books, including, The Kentucky Encyclopedia, The Louisville Encyclopedia, and Thomas D. Clark of Kentucky: An Uncommon Life in the Commonwealth.
Dr. Kleber’s appearance is part of the Presidential Performing Arts and Speakers Program.
