Film Committee to present 'To Kill a Mockingbird'

Sept. 28, 2012 — Morehead State University’s Film Committee will present the 50th Anniversary showing of “To Kill a Mockingbird” on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in 002 Breckinridge Hall.

The film will be shown from 5-7 p.m. with discussion from 7-8 p.m.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee,published in 1960. It was adapted into an Oscar-winning film in 1962 by director Robert Mulligan, starring Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch and Mary Badham in the role of Scout.

In 1995, the film was listed in the National Film Registry. It also ranks 25th on the American Film Institute's 10th anniversary list of the greatest American movies of all time. In 2003, AFI named Atticus Finch the greatest movie hero of the 20th century.

The event is presented by the MSU Film Committee, with support from MSU’s Departments of Art and Design,Communication Media and Leadership Studies,English,and International and Interdisciplinary Studies,the Office of Communications and Marketing; Camden-Carroll Library; and the Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
