Oct. 24, 2012 — Morehead State University alumni and friends are invited to campus for the annual Homecoming celebration, Oct. 25-27.
Mark your calendar to join faculty, staff and students for the homecoming events, featuring a community storefront decorating contest, athletic events, including Eagle football and soccer,and a continuation of MSU’s 125 anniversary.
The annual homecoming parade will be held on Main Street at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. The Student Alumni Ambassadors will present Nearly Naked Mile run later in the evening. Registration will begin at 8:30 p.m. at the Adorn Doran University Center’s commons area.
During the homecoming weekend, everyone is invited to view the art exhibition on display in the main gallery of the Claypool-Young Art Building. The exhibit is open for viewing from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., weekdays.
Friday has been designated Blue and Gold Day. Campus and community members are encouraged to show their Eagle pride by wearing the school colors. If you need something to wear, the University Bookstore will extend its hours until 6 p.m. that day. The bookstore also will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. A variety of MSU apparel, books and gifts are available.
A Memorial Brick Ceremony will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Little Bell Tower Memorial Plaza.
A Legacy Luncheon is scheduled for noon in the Crager Room of ADUC. At 2 p.m. in the Heritage Room of ADUC, the class of 1962 will hold its 50th Reunion.
All campus visitors are encouraged to attend the MSU Alumni Association welcome reception on the third floor of the Adron Doran University Center from 5 until 7 p.m. The Homecoming banquet will begin at 7 p.m. in the Crager Room. The program will include the induction of the Alumni and Athletic Hall of Fame recipients and presentation of the Founders Award.
The Eagle volleyball team will host Tennessee Tech at Wetherby Gymnasium while the soccer team will entertain Austin Peay. Both will begin at 7 p.m.
Also at 7 p.m., the Homecoming Kickoff Celebration begins at Buffalo Wild Wings.
Several events are scheduled for Saturday morning.
The Bookstore will have its Breakfast and Fashion Show on the first floor of ADUC at 9 a.m.
At 10 a.m., MSU will have a dedication ceremony for the naming of Smith-Booth Hall (Space Science Center).
Before the homecoming football game, the traditional tailgate will begin at 11 a.m. in Eagle Rally Zone.
Kickoff for the game will be at 1 p.m. at Jayne Stadium as the Eagles take on Campbell. Halftime activities will feature a performance by the MSU Marching Band and the crowning of the homecoming queen and king.
Eagle baseball will host its annual alumni game, following the football game, at Allen Field.
The Kentucky Center of Traditional Music will host an Open House from 4-5 p.m. and a free concert at the Moonlight School Stage at 5 p.m.
The Eagle volleyball team will take on Jacksonville State at 5 p.m. in Wetherby Gym.
After the game, several organizations will host dinners, reunions and other events during the evening.
