'Dr. Earl J. Bentley Student-Athlete Learning Lab' named

Oct. 10, 2012 — Morehead State University hosted a dedication ceremony Saturday, Oct. 6, for Dr. Earl J. Bentley, retired chair of MSU’s Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, and former coach.

The Student-Athlete Learning Lab in the EAGLE Center was officially named as “Dr. Earl J. Bentley Student-Athlete Learning Lab.”

During his 30-year career at the University, Dr. Bentley coached football, track and women’s soccer and started the master’s degree program in HPER and the Emergency Medical Technician program.

After his retirement, a former student and football player under Coach Bentley started a campaign to name a room in the newly renovated EAGLE Center in his honor out of respect for his dedication and devotion to MSU.

The goal was reached and proceeds from the naming project will be used to provide scholarships to a full-time graduate or fifth-year student who participated in an intercollegiate sport as an undergraduate enrolled at MSU.

Chief photographer Tim Holbrook put together a photo gallery of the Saturday ceremony honoring Dr. Bentley.
