Rosemarie “Rosey” France Barnette
1958-2009


MOREHEAD – Rosemarie “Rosey” France Barnette, age 50, of Cold Springs Hollow, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, January 5, 2009, at her residence.

She was born October 17, 1958, in Hammond, Indiana, and was the daughter of the late Vernon and Nina Faye Dillon France. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Fultz, and her stepfather, Roy Templeman.

Her husband, Clinton Barnette, passed away May 8, 2000.

Rosemarie is survived by two sons and their wives, Christopher and Danielle Barnette of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Benjamin and Anna Barnette of Morehead, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Samantha Rose Barnette, Dylan Christopher Barnette, and Ethan Charles Barnette; and special cousin, Pamela Jent and her husband Robert.

Other survivors include four brothers, John Fultz of Hebron, Indiana, Farrell Fultz of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Ralph France and Vaughn France, both of Morehead, Kentucky; three sisters, Margaret Jones and Diana Munt, both of Gary, Indiana, and Wanda Cassoday of Griffith, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.

Rosemarie was a former employee at WalMart in Valparaiso, Indiana, and enjoyed working on her computer.

A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Elliottville Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating.

Visitation is Saturday, January 10, 2009, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.at the Elliottville Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Ottie Masters Evans
1921-2009


MOREHEAD – Ottie Masters Evans, age 87, of Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at the Life Care Center of Morehead.

She was born April 15, 1921, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Elsworth and Hannah Zornes Masters. Her husband, Elmer Thomas “Pete” Evans, preceded her in death on February 14, 1984.

Ottie is survived by several cousins as well as special friends, J. C. and Marcy Jolley of Clearfield, Kentucky.

Mrs. Evans was a homemaker and former nursing home employee in Tiffin, Ohio. She enjoyed reading and was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary McQuain, Rev. Max Molihan and Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Fork Cemetery, Cherry Fork, Ohio.

Pallbearers will be Jim Moore, Pete Hamm, Ted Trent, Paul Rhodes, Mark Rhodes, and Randy Day.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

David Hutchinson Jr.

CARLISLE - David R. Hutchinson, Jr., husband of Jean Irvin Hutchinson, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at his home. He is also survived by a son, David R. Hutchinson III (Linda), Wooster, Ohio, and a grandson, David R. Hutchinson IV, Puyallup, Washington. He is also survived by a sister, Dortha Cales, Morehead, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents Roscoe and Rinda Conley Hutchinson, a sister, Dora Williams and three brothers, Curt and Alpha Hutchinson of Morehead, and Clifford Hutchinson of Middletown, Ohio.

Roscoe, Jr. attended Breckinridge Training School and has degrees from Morehead State University, playing basketball at both, and was a member of the M Club. He volunteered for the Army in 1945. He retired after coaching and teaching three years in Kentucky at Breckinridge County H.S. and Trimble County H. S. and 27 years in Ohio at Ripley H.S. and Wooster-Triway H.S. He coached the 1953 Breckinridge County H.S. State Champion Cross Country team and was a member of the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Hall of Fame. He was a fifty-year member of the Morehead Masonic Lodge #654, a member of the Scottish Rite, Oleika Shrine and an honorary Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at the Carlisle Cemetery Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 10, with the Reverend Paul Cropper officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mathers-Gaunce F.H.

Lacy Carl Lewis
1947-2009


MOREHEAD – Lacy Carl Lewis, age 61, of Redgate Lane, Meredith, New Hampshire, formerly of Haldeman, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.

He was born December 17, 1947, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Bernard Lewis and Bertha Fultz Lewis Griffin. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Jane Lewis, in 1978.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Calton Lewis, whom he married March 13, 1971; two sons, Jeff (Salena) Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky, and Lacy Lewis, Jr., of Meredith, New Hampshire; two daughters, Ann (Terry) Henderson of Haldeman, Kentucky, and Brenda (Mike) Conn of Clearfield, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Daniel Carl Conn, Jennifer Ann Conn, Dakota Lee Lewis, Logan Xavier Lewis, Gracehelen Mary Lewis, Issac Matthew Henderson, and one step grandchild, Wanda Faye Henderson.

Also surviving are four brothers, Delmas Lewis and James Lewis of Galion, Ohio, Lester Lee Lewis, Sr., of Morehead, Kentucky, Donnie Lewis of Terre Haute, Indiana, and three sisters, Carol Boyd and Ailene Calton of Morehead, Kentucky, and Stella May Barricks of Indiana.

Lacy was a lift operator for Richard White Lumber Company for 25 years. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and playing with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Don Rivers, Rev. Ray Glover, and Rev. Bernie Lovely officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard White, Ray White, Quentin Hamilton, Ivan Krow II, Asa Madden, Nick Caudill, and Jeff Caudill.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
