Jerry Healy
1936-2009


Lexington, KY – Local businessman and civic leader Jerry Healy, has died at the age of 72 after a short illness. Healy died in Lexington at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Healy was born in Flint, Michigan to Louis and Geraldine Healy, on February 19th, 1936. He served in the US Army from 1956-58. He, his wife and 4 children moved to Kentucky in 1974, where he began his career as a franchisee for McDonald’s Restaurants. Since opening his first restaurant in Winchester, he along with his family have grown their organization to 14 restaurants, employing over 1,000 individuals. The Healy family owns and operates the local McDonald’s of Morehead, which in 1975 was the second McDonald’s restaurant opened by the Healy Family. In 2001, Mr. Healy expanded by opening a second Morehead location.

Healy was involved in numerous charitable and civic organizations. He was a member of the following boards: Founding and Life member of the Ronald McDonald House of Lexington, The Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial, Kentucky Basketball Museum, Adolph Rupp Foundation, Kentucky Horse Park Commission, The Kentucky Council on Child Abuse, Junior Achievements 2000 Bluegrass Business Hall of Fame Laureate, University of Kentucky Center on Aging Foundation, Lexington Catholic High School, The Winchester Rotary Club, The Boy’s and Girls Clubs of America, and many more.

During his career with McDonald’s, Jerry was a two-time winner of the prestigious Ronald McDonald Award. This recognition is given to less than 20 McDonald Owner Operators per year nationwide, recognizing their contribution the community and to the McDonald’s system.

Healy was also past chairman and board member for Central Bank and Trust. “Central Bank has lost a great friend and mentor with the passing of Mr. Healy,” said Luther Deaton, President and CEO of Central Bank. “Since he joined our Board in 1993, he has provided continual leadership and guidance. We will miss his passion for service excellence, his wisdom and his warm smile that touched each of us who had the pleasure to know him.”

His wife of 47 years Sarah, and 4 children survive Healy. Michael Healy (Kelly) of Fairborn, GA; Gerald F. “Kelly” Healy III (Claudia) of Lexington, KY; Patrick Healy; Suzanne Mason (Randy). He also has 12 grandchildren. Emily and Jeremy Healy of Burke, VA; Gabriela, Jacob, Isabella, and Michael Healy of Fairburn, GA.; Catherine and Gerald F. “Jack” Healy IV of Lexington, KY; Ryan Healy of Lexington, Ky.; Jamie, Camille and Elizabeth Mason of Lexington, Ky.

Healy, one of six children, was preceded in death by both his parents and a sister Molly Lukken. Those children are; Fredrick A. Healy (Jane), Fayetteville, NC; Suzanne Maccio (Chet), Southern Pines, NC; Louis J. Healy (Terry), Charleston, SC; Barbara Collins, Davidson, NC.

Healy was an avid UK fan, traveling for many years with the basketball team to Hawaii, Italy, and most tournament games. In the 80’s, he was voted “fan of the year” by the University of Kentucky Basketball program.

Funeral arrangements include visitation on Monday, January 12th, from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. at The Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road. A Mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 13th at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Father Mark Dreves and Father Norman Fischer will preside over the service. A burial ceremony will follow at the Lexington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Lexington and the UK Medical Center.

The family is truly grateful for the loving care Jerry received from the staff and doctors at UK.

Dorothy Verna Highley Mynhier
1935-2008


MOREHEAD – Dorothy Verna Highley Mynhier, 73, of Midland, passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

She was born on December 11, 1935 in Menifee County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Fred and Nancy Farley Highley.

Mrs. Mynhier was a youth worker at the Morehead Treatment Center having worked there for 26 years. She was of the Church of God Faith and enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Highley, Elmo Highley and Raleigh Highley.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Mynhier, two sons, Dewayne Mynhier and his wife, Elsa of Morehead and Darwin Mynhier of Salt Lick, one daughter, Rhonda Lowe and her husband, Rod of Morehead, two brothers, William Edward Highley of Glassboro, New Jersey and Joe Brackins of New Market, Tennessee, one sister, Mary Elizabeth Burton of Flint, Michigan, brother-in-law, Jim Mynhier of Midland, ten grandchildren, Kris Mynhier, Jarrod Mynhier, Amber Mynhier Ison, Seth Mynhier, John-Logan Mynhier, Brandis Lowe Carlson, Ashleigh Lowe Gasparac, Kristen Lowe Day, Kaelyn Mynhier and Jesse Mynhier, seven great-grandchildren, Isaac Moore, Trinity Moore, Tristan Mynhier, Amberleigh Mynhier, Camryn Carlson, Gavyn Gasparac and Garryt Gasparac, special friend, Gary Fanning and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Midland First Church of God with Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial was in the Jones Cemetery at Midland.

Pallbearers were Kris Mynhier, Jarrod Mynhier, John-Logan Mynhier, Seth Mynhier, Parker Gasparac, Brent Day, Rod Lowe and Chris Lowe.

Evelyn Pinnerud
1937-2009


WISCONSIN - Evelyn F. Pinnerud, 71, of Rice Lake formerly of Chetek, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield, WI.

Evelyn was born on October 11, 1937 to Junior and Carrie (Roberts) Jefferson in Pine Grove, KY.

She married David Pinnerud on June 11, 1960 in Bonita Springs, FL. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1977.

She moved to Chetek in 1960 coming from Florida. She moved to Rice Lake, WI in 1975. She worked as a waitress for the Elks Club in Rice Lake and also worked at Seneca Foods in Cumberland, WI for 10 years. She was a member of the Moose Auxiliary in Rice Lake. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, traveling throughout the U.S. and Mexico and Italy. She also enjoyed making friends and shared deeply in family and their events.

Evelyn is survived by her two sons, LeRoy Pinnerud of Birchwood, WI and Daniel (Suz) Pinnerud of Minneapolis, MN; one daughter, Susan Pinnerud of Phoenix, AZ; three brothers, David (Carol) Jefferson of Vanceburg, KY, Daniel Jefferson of Morehead, KY and James (Judy) Jefferson of Clearfield, KY; three sisters, Catherine (Ival) Ison of Morehead, KY, Nola (Earl) Josleyn of Crescent City, FL and Anna Mary (Donnie) Plank of Morehead, KY; four grandchildren, Kristin, Derrick, Brett and Anthony; one great granddaughter, Abigal; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Burnham-Ours Funeral Home in Chetek, WI with Pastor Scott Nedland officiating. Burial will be at Dovre Cemetery in the Town of Dovre. Friends may call Monday, January 12, 2009 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
