Mary Lee McClain Gibson
1937-2009
HILLSBORO – Mary Lee McClain Gibson, age 71, of Watson Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at her residence.
She was born March 3, 1937, in Hillsboro, daughter of the late Byrom and Lucille Royse McClain. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Byrom McClain, Jr.
Her husband, William Franklin Gibson, passed away August 3, 2002.
Survivors include one brother, Don (Janie) McClain of Hillsboro, Kentucky; three sisters, Billie (Gabe) Alderman of Morehead, Kentucky, Louise England of Maysville, Kentucky, and Carolyn (Ronnie) Helphenstine of Flemingsburg, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gibson was a 34-year employee of the U.S Shoe Corp. – Nine West in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Ripley, Ohio, and Maysville, Kentucky. She was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009, at the Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Fulkerson, Mike McClain, Rick Rhodes, Harold Dean Sorrell, Dick Adams, Steve Call, Calvin Flora, and Claude Reffitt.
Visitation for Mary Lee McClain Gibson is after 5 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2009, at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Woodie Hamilton
1931-2008
MOREHEAD - James Woodford “Woodie” Hamilton, age 77, a native of Rowan County, passed away December 23, 2008, in Ocala, Florida.
He was born May 4, 1931, and was the son of the Alex and Gertrude Swim Hamilton. Besides his parents, Woodie was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Neal; a brother, Elwood Hamilton; and a sister, Mayma Whittingham.
Woodie served in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He graduated in 1980 from Morehead State University and was the owner and broker of Professional Real Estate Brokerage for 18 years and HUD fee appraiser for 12 years.
He was a member of the Fidelita Lodge No. 830 AF & AM, Germany, Morehead Lodge No. 654, F & AM, Morehead York Rite, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, El Hasa Shrine Temple, and Order of the Eastern Star No. 227. He was also a Kentucky Colonel, lifetime member of the VFW No. 4209 in Ocala and member of Central Christian Church in Ocala, Florida.
Woodie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sylvia Lassance Hamilton of Ocala, Florida; a daughter, Yvonne (Gidget) and her husband Jeremiah O’Brien, of Lexington, Kentucky; and a son, Christopher L. Hamilton of Atlanta, Georgia.
Other survivors include four sisters, Kathryn Alley of Sardina, Ohio, Georgia Wilson of Upland, Indiana, Chiles Rouch of Redkey, Indiana, Lucille and her husband George Calvert of Ashland, Kentucky; one brother, Glennis Hamilton and his wife Shirley of Silver Springs, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Dr. J. D. Reeder officiating.
Masonic services will be conducted by Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654. Full military rites will be conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Columbarium.
