John Archie Evans
1926-2009
OLIVE HILL – John Archie Evans, age 82, of U.S. 60 West, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, March 20, 2009.
He was born April 27, 1926, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late William and Sarah Bailey Evans. Also preceding him in death was the mother of his children, Etta Bauers Evans.
Surviving are two sons—Jeffrey Dale Evans and wife Fairlene of Morehead, Kentucky, and Gregory Lee Evans and wife Tammy of Salt Lick, Kentucky, and three daughters—Brenda S. Patton and husband Larry, Kay Stamper and husband Bill, and Pamela Whisman and husband Willis, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Also surviving are four grandchildren—Brian Stamper, Jamie Messer, Angie Schmidt, and Ashley Perry, and three great grandchildren—Eli Stamper, Jacob Perry and Ariel Messer.
Mr. Evans served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He retired from the General Refractory Company in Olive Hill, Kentucky, after 23 years of service.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Hamilton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill with full military rites conducted by Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.
Pallbearers will be Mikeal Barker, Frank Harris, Brian Stamper, Carl Fultz, Joe Perry, and Tim Messer.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.

Juanita Williams Sexton
1921-2009
MOREHEAD – Juanita Williams Sexton, age 88, of East Clack Mountain Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.
She was born May 3, 1921, in Morgan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Bill and Alice Peyton Williams. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Estell Sexton; three sisters, Ollie Conley, Levotis Collier, and Stella Sexton, and one brother, Forrest G. Williams.
Mrs. Sexton is survived by two daughters, Sue Mabry and husband Frank and Linda Jones and husband Harold, all of Clearfield, Kentucky; one son, Billy O. Sexton of Clearfield, Kentucky; one brother, Lynn Boyd Williams of West Liberty, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Tony Jones and wife Sherry and Kathy Jones; and one great grandchild, Terry Whitt.
Mrs. Sexton was a homemaker and member of Slab Camp Christian Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr., Rev. Charles Moore and Rev. Herbie Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Crix Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Black, Randy Cox, Donald Goodman, Bobby Mabry, Mike Smedley, Steve Smedley, and Junior Black.
Visitation was after 5 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009, anytime Monday, and until the service on Tuesday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Recia Trent
1915-2009
MOREHEAD – Recia Trent, age 93, of CCC Trail, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
She was born July 26, 1915, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late John Harvey and Minnie Sloan Trent. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Sabra Trent, Rena Trent, and Nola Stigall, and six brothers, Atlee Trent, Ersel Trent, Corbia Trent, Henry Trent, Orbia Trent, and Odie Trent.
Recia is survived by one sister, Goldie Hitch of Elliott County, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Norma Trent of Morehead, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Elmo Stigall of Morehead, Kentucky; a host of nieces and nephews; other family; and many friends.
In the early 1940’s, Recia moved to Cleveland, Ohio, to work at the Thompson Product Factory. After 31 years, she retired and returned to her family in Rowan County.
Recia’s zest for living in the country was demonstrated by her everyday activities. She enjoyed all outdoor activities including gardening and working in her yard, which she did until 90 years of age.
Family was very important to Recia as she always had an open door, a loving heart, and a great big smile. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Rhodes and Rev. Wade Muncy officiating. Burial will follow in the Trent Cemetery, CCC Trail, Morehead, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Mike Crouch, Steven Walters, Ken Blevins, Jr. Stigall, Jonathan Stigall, Christopher Stigall, Darrell Hitch, Tony Hitch, Mike Hitch.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
