Volena Plank Buckner Evans
1919-2009
MOREHEAD – Volena Plank Buckner Evans, age 90, of Cranston Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Morehead, Kentucky.
Born April 21, 1919, at Triplett in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Jake Plank and Rosa Butler Plank. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Lorene Pendland, June Plank, and Nadean Plank, and one brother, Elmo Plank.
Her first husband, Elmo Buckner, passed away on February 20, 1942, and her second husband, William Samuel (Sam) Evans on October 17, 1991.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Anne Buckner of Morehead, Kentucky; one sister, Tina Evans of Morehead, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Tiffany B. Sholar and husband Alan of Morehead, Kentucky; two great grandchildren, Logan Clark and Alana Sholar; four step great-grandchildren, Bethany, Trent, Eli, and Caitlin Sholar; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Evans was a former employee of Cowden Mfg., St. Claire Medical Center, and Tilden Hogge Elementary School. She enjoyed the outdoors, using her power lawnmower and weed eater to manicure the lawn, working in flowers, cooking, canning, and quilting. She was a member of the Adams-Plank Enterprise Baptist Church. Mrs. Evans was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Carlos Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Evans Cemetery on Cranston Road.
Pallbearers: Vernon Estep, Larry Adkins, Denton Blair, Alan Sholar, Rocky Stacy, Randy Wagoner, and Rick Wagoner.
Honorary pallbearers: Bill Huie, Lanny Williams, Tim Plank, Harvey Pennington, Jack Evans, Don Evans, Joe Planck, Jeff Ryder, Fred Blanton, Bob Haney, Cabe Evans, and Ben Allen.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Dolly Frances Reed
1942-2009
MOREHEAD - Dolly Frances Reed, age 66, of Dark Hollow Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Morehead, Kentucky.
Born September 5, 1942, in Menifee County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John Elbert and Ollie Ellen Proffitt Reed.
She is survived by two brothers, William H. (Bill) Reed and wife Linda of Clearfield, Kentucky, and Larry Robert Sorrell and wife Sandy of Franklin, Ohio; three nieces, Arlinda Fannin, Georgina Reed, and Robyn Fox; one nephew, John Sorrell; one great niece, Adelina Stevens; and three great nephews, Matthew Fannin, Dakota Stevens, and Dewey Reed, Jr.
Dolly attended Morehead State University for four year and retired after 30 years with the General Telephone Company as an operator serving the Elizabethtown, Morehead, and Lexington offices. She enjoyed reading, traveling, watching movies, and was a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Ginter Cemetery, Menifee County.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
