Richard Grauman “Dick” Eversole
1933-2009


MOREHEAD – Richard Grauman “Dick” Eversole, age 76, of Fouss Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, university professor, auctioneer, realtor, jewelry and antiques dealer, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

Born April 11, 1933, in Jackson, Kentucky, he was the only child of the late Wilton Grauman Eversole and Beatrice Arnold Cundiff Eversole.

He is survived by one son, Gregory D. Eversole of Morehead, Kentucky; four daughters, Dr. Bridgette Eversole Coulter of Danville, Kentucky, Emily Jean Eversole, Morgan Marie Eversole, and Brooklyn Irene Eversole, all of Morehead, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Deanna Jenna Eversole, Elizabeth Nicole Eversole, John Austin Coulter, William Carson Coulter, and Phoenix Parker Tucker; and two great-grandchildren, MaKenzie Rayne Bills and Dillon James Bills.

One grandchild, Dakota Miles Eversole, preceded him in death.

Dick served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He attended the Hospital Corps School in Bainbridge, Maryland, and completed the Occupational Therapy Technician Program in Bethesda, Maryland. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a master’s from Morehead State University. He was assistant professor of biology at Morehead State University from 1964 until his retirement in 1988.

Dick, who delighted in referring to himself as “a horse trader", also enjoyed the great outdoors, especially camping, fishing and boating. Throughout his life, his greatest treasures always were his children and grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating. Burial was in Brown Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers were Greg Eversole, Darrell Cundiff, Terry Cundiff, Pat Duvall, Jim Byrd, David Daniels, Tom Pecco and David Schuch.

Visitation was Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

David Lee Jolly
1928-2009


HILLSBORO – David Lee Jolly, age 80, of Sunset/Locust Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at his residence.

Born September 6, 1928, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Elzie Lee and Lydia Bowles Jolly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Jolly of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and two sisters, Juanita Jolly and Geneva Rammel of Kettering, Ohio.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lois Kirk Jolly, on November 3, 2006, and his son, Anthony Jolly, on January 18, 2005.

He is survived by two sons, Gary (Katie) Jolly and Dwight (Stephanie) Jolly all of Hillsboro, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Shirley Jolly of Hillsboro, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, David Todd Jolly, Stephen Jolly, Ami Jolly Rowe, Cody Jolly, Shauna Jolly, Michaela Jolly, and Isaac Jolly; four great grandchildren, Dakota, Kara, and Leah Jolly and David Gage Rowe; and two step great grandchildren, Tyler and Taylia Rowe.

Other survivors include two brothers, Charles Jolly of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, and Herbert (Charlotte) Jolly of Hillsboro, Kentucky; four sisters, Mae (Kenneth) Ramey of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Virginia Boling and Helen Steele both of St. Paris, Ohio, and Faye (Gene) Lewis of Franklin, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

David was a retired dairy and tobacco farmer and a member of the Fox Hunters Associations.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Lands and Pastor Willie Skaggs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Marion Story, Bill Story, Stevie Call, Bubby Shields, David Hamilton, William Earl Humphries, Doug Rigdon, and John Lands.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2009, at Hutton Funeral Home.

Jessie Madeline Brown Peyton
1935-2009


MOREHEAD – Jessie Madeline Brown Peyton, age 73, of Peyton Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at her residence.

She was born October 31, 1935, in Rowan County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Andrew Bert Brown and Maude Lou Ramey Brown. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Waldo Peyton; one son, Ernest Lloyd Peyton; and three granddaughters, Amber Igo, Bethany Peyton, and Laura Beth Thurman.

She is survived by two sons, Bert Jr. Peyton of Morehead, Kentucky, and James Granville (Brenda) Peyton of Nashville, Tennessee; five daughters, Patty J. (James) Hall of Wellington, Kentucky, Betty O. (Jeff) Catron of Morehead, Kentucky, Chloe L. (Roy) Mays of Wellington, Kentucky, Judy A. (James) Brewer of Morehead, Kentucky, and Linda N. (Billy) Thurman of Richmond, Kentucky; one brother, Harold Granville Brown of Morehead, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Jessie enjoyed reading, fishing, and gardening. She was a homemaker and former caregiver who was devoted to her family, friends, and God. Jessie attended the Salt Lick Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Andy Lands and Pastor Roger Long officiating. Burial will follow at the Peyton Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Bert Peyton, James Peyton, Billy Thurman, James Hall, Shane Ackerman, and Bucky Catron.

Honorary: Jeffrey Catron, James Brewer, Joshua Back, Ray Peyton, Dale Crouch, Bob Tackett, and Bobby Jr. Tackett.

Rebecca Ann Spencer
1958-2009


MOREHEAD - Rebecca Ann Spencer, 51, of Morehead, died Wednesday morning, June 24, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. She was born May 19, 1958 in Montgomery County, to William and Lucille Spencer.

Ms. Spencer was a Montgomery County native that moved to Morehead 2 years ago. She was of the Catholic belief and a member of Jesus Our Savior Catholic Church and Newman Center and a health care provider.

Survivors include; her mother, Lucille Edwards of Mt. Sterling; two sisters, Linda Corea (Frank) and Mary Treadway (Jeffrey) of Lexington; three cousins, Diana White, Tim Burns and Jennifer Trimble; two nieces, Monica Holt and Annamaria Corea; two nephews, Frank Corea III and Heath Joseph; and a special aunt, Betty Tipton.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Albert Spencer and her nephew Robbie Joseph.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Life Care Center of Morehead, 33 N.E. Tolliver Rd, Morehead, KY 40351.

Visitation is at 1 p.m. in Morehead, Friday, June 26 at the Jesus Our Savior Catholic Church. A memorial service will be at the church Newman Center at 2 p.m. with a reception following. Father Paul Prabell will be officiating.

Imogene Engle Stegall
1937-2009


MOREHEAD – Imogene Engle Stegall, 72, of Skaggs Lane - Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in the Fleming County Hospital.

She was born on March 21, 1937 in Morgan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Robert Boyd Engle and Alene Blankenship Engle.

Mrs. Stegall was a homemaker. She was a member of the Morehead First Apostolic Church and was well known as an excellent cook. Mrs. Stegall enjoyed sewing, going to auctions and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Stegall, who passed away on January 2, 2003, two brothers, Boyd Engle and Bob Lewis and one sister, Oleta Jones.

Survivors include four sons, Allen Ray Stegall and his wife, Dorothy, Tony Stegall and his wife, Karen, Robert Stegall and his wife, Andrea and Chris Stegall and his wife, Diana all of Morehead, two daughters, Sharron Weaver and her husband, Gene of Wallingford and Anita Winkleman and her husband, Darrell of Elliott County, one brother, Junior Lewis of Morgan County, one sister, Ethel Pearl Johnson of Gratis, Ohio, fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 27, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Binion officiating. Burial will follow in the Caudill Cemetery at Cranston. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Friday.

Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.

Terry Taylor II
1990-2009


FLATWOODS – Terry James (T.J.) Taylor II, 18, of Flatwoods, died Monday, June 22 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

He was born Oct. 5, 1990 at Port Charlotte, Fla., to Terry James Taylor of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and Janice Taylor of Flatwoods.

He was a server at Golden Corral restaurant.

Survivors in addition to his parents include grandparents Jim and Carmelitta Taylor of Florence, Ala.; three brothers, Zachary Taylor, Oscar Taylor and Jason Fish, all of Flatwoods; two sisters, Julie Peter and Karen Norling, both of Rhinelander, Wisc.; and four nieces, Kayla Norling and Cassie Norling, both of Rhinelander, Brittany Fish of Flatwoods and Elishia Taylor of Florence, Ala.

A memorial and candlelight vigil will be Saturday, June 27 at 712 Highland Ave., Flatwoods.

The Carman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Sue Caudill Trent
1951-2009


MOREHEAD – Betty Sue Caudill Trent, 58, of Nicholasville formerly of Rowan County, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009 in the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.

She was born on May 25, 1951 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Everett and Gladys Ison Caudill.

Mrs. Trent was a retired registered nurse for Central Baptist Hospital. She was of the Church of God Faith, a graduate of Maysville Community College and she enjoyed cooking and raising a garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Trent and one brother, James Caudill.

Survivors include her husband, John Trent of Nicholasville, two sons, Anthony Trent and Derrick Trent and his wife, Susan all of Nicholasville, one daughter, Michelle Trent of Nicholasville, three brothers, Matt Caudill of Farmers, Timothy Scott Caudill of Morehead and Phillip Caudill of Lexington, two sisters, Linda Glover and Judy Gulley both of Morehead, seven grandchildren, Haley Trent, Austin Trent, Justin Trent, Autumn Trent, Catherine Trent, Lexie Trent and Riley Trent and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Porter and Brother Monroe Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the Cranston Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Gulley, Todd Caudill, Jason Caudill, Junior Caudill, Ricky Gee and Nick Caudill.
