Michael Click
1956-2008


SOLDIER - Michael Wayne Click, age 52, of Clearfield, formerly of Soldier, passed away Saturday morning, October 25, at the U. K. Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born February 9, 1956, in Carter County, a son of the late Addie and Dorothy Fultz Click.

Mike was of the Church of God faith. He was employed with Ball Homes for fifteen years and a self-employed Drywaller for five years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his son Justin whom he adored.

He is survived by his wife of twelve years, Ginger Marlene Sparks Click; one son Justin Michael MacKinley Click both of Clearfield; one brother; Gary Dale Click of Olive Hill; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda Sue Fife and Roger of Grayson; one niece and her spouse, Jacklyn Sue and Zack Carper of Lexington. He also leaves a host of extended family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Bobby Day and Brother Delmar Logan, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the Bradley Cemetery on Dry Branch Road in Olive Hill.

Jodi Bradley, Timmy Bradley, David Greenhill, Jacob Waddell, Danny Waddell, and Larry Wayne Harris served as pallbearers.

Barbara Collett Fossett
1938-2008


MOREHEAD – Barbara Collett Fossett, age 70, of Beechwood Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, a community volunteer and wife of Dr. Thomas Fossett, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

Born October 5, 1938, in Bell County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Elisha and Lina Green Collett.

In addition to her husband Tom, Barbara is survived by one son, Thomas Reed Fossett of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters, Susan Collett Layne of Sardinia, Ohio, and Janet Elizabeth Helvey of Morehead, Kentucky; two sisters, Alice Faye Hurt of Naples, Florida, and Joyce Alexander of St. Petersburg, Florida; and 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Ruth, Colleen, Katherine, Sarah, Ross, Devin, Nancy, Hannah, Rebekah, Elena, and Caleb.

Barbara was a graduate of Lafayette High School and Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Lexington, Kentucky. She had also been a nursing instructor and orthopedic nurse at Good Samaritan and an ER nurse at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. She was volunteer coordinator and taught classes for teen volunteers at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

A well-known community volunteer, Barbara was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was also especially committed to charitable causes of the Kentucky Federation of Women’s Clubs (KFWC). Twice Barbara was President of the Morehead Woman’s Club, and in 2001 was named an honorary member of the club. She served as Governor of the KFWC Eighth District and was President of the Kentucky Federation of Women’s Club in 2002 and 2003. She also served on the Board of Directors for the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. Barbara was the only member of the Morehead Woman’s Club to serve as state president, other than Mrs. Adron (Mignon) Doran. While President of KFWC, Barbara started “Quarters for Headquarters” a fund to refurnish the KFWC Home in Louisville, KY. She truly loved the woman’s club and called all the volunteers “ladybugs.” To this day, volunteers are given a little ladybug when they volunteer!

A faithful member of the Morehead United Methodist Church, Barbara served on various committees and was a former Sunday School teacher.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at the Morehead United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Nettleton and Dr. Jack Ellis officiating.

Active Pallbearers: Sammy Alexander, Larry Besant, Terry Collett, Dana Greenfield, Ron Hurt, Charles Hutchinson, Sr., Scott Johnson, and Tim Miller.

Honorary Pallbearers: George Alfrey, Dr. Shelley Bennett, Dr. Ann Colbert, Dr. Allen Lim, Dr. Steve Mitchell, Dr. Tom Newcomb, Dr. Mary Phillips, Dr. Cynthia Schneider, Dr. Ed Scott, Dr. Pat Serey, and Dr. David Victor.

Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Ralph Planck
1925-2008


MOREHEAD – Ralph Planck, age 83, of Sayre Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008, at the U. K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was born February 4, 1925, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Allie and Eliza Belle Lovelace Plank. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Estep Planck on June 8, 1989; one grandson, Chris Kissinger; six brothers, Harold Planck, Marvin Planck, Vernon Plank, Wendell Plank, Darriel Plank, and Otha Plank; and two sisters, Georgia Carter and Vesta Plank.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Ollie “Ottie” Buckler Day Planck, whom he married May 3, 1991; two children, Clifford (Sandy) Planck of Lexington, Kentucky, and Barbara Kissinger of Morehead; two stepchildren, Ronnie (Sandi) Day and Judy (Lowell, Jr.) Pennington, of Morehead, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by six sisters, Vada Estep and Phyllis Rogers, both of Morehead, Kentucky, Arvetta Dean of Hayes Crossing, Kentucky, Ona Bennett and Joyce Riddle, both of Marion, Indiana, and Shirley Davis of Selma, Indiana; and one brother, Curt Planck of Lenoir City, Tennessee.

Ralph was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a lifelong automobile and truck mechanic. He was employed for 17 years at the Lewis Garage and was the former owner of several Morehead businesses, including Planck’s Shell Station on West Main Street, Planck & Kissinger International Harvester Truck Dealership from 1969 – 1971, Eagle Transit Service that provided limousine and taxi service from 1991 – 1996. Ralph enjoyed his family and working around the house and loved to fish. Ralph was well-known and appreciated for his “fish frying” by family and friends and many church and charitable organizations. He was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison, Rev. Gary McQuain, Rev. Jay Harmon and Clifford Planck officiating. Burial will follow in the Estep Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Pallbearers: Cliff “Eugene” Planck, Jr., Darren Kissinger, John Crutcher, Brian Lebanion, Josh Day, and Lowell Pennington, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers: Brice Day, Ted Trent, Jacob Lebanion, Gordon Jones, Johnny Fryman, and Cecil Trent.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
