Ruby Black
1919-2008
OLIVE HILL - Ruby Opal Blevins Evans Black, age 89, of Candy Cane Drive, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday evening, December 1, 2008, at her residence.
She was born October 21, 1919, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John William and Nancy Wilson Blevins.
Opal was a loving mother and grandmother, a devoted Christian and of the Church of God faith. She worked for Cowdens Sewing Factory and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of fifteen years, Emerson Evans; second husband of thirty-two years, Virgil D. Black; son, James David Evans; four brothers, Arthur Blevins, Estill Blevins, Arnold Blevins and Orville Blevins; two sisters, Rosa Mowery and Ada Sturgill; son-in-law, Donald Jessie.
She is survived by seven daughters and sons-in-law,Wilma Jessie, Eva Lou and J.R. Back of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Glenna and Tom Jenkins of Beloit, Ohio, Byrthald and Charles Todd of Springdale, Ohio, Valeria Stanley of Kahuku, Hawaii, Angela Rutan of Mechanisburg, Ohio and Pamela K. And Ray Mutura of Gallipolis, Ohio; twenty-seven grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2008, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Charlie Riggs and Brother Lewis Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, all day Thursday and until the service hour Friday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Terry Jessie, Tim Jessie, Johnny Rose, Brent Back, Jason Ingles and Justin Ingles will serve as pallbearers.
Kenneth L. Ellington
1925-2008
MOREHEAD - Kenneth L. Ellington, 82, of Kentucky 801 North, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
He was born on December 30, 1925 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Espy and Ina Cox Ellington.
Mr. Ellington was a former heavy equipment operator, sawmill operator and truck driver. He was a member of the Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church and he enjoyed working and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Filer Ellington, who passed away on May 23, 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Irene Morgan and her husband, Dean of Olive Hill, one brother, Dick Ellington of Morehead, two sisters, Norma Hodges and Pauline Brown both of Morehead, three grandchildren, Danny Fulton, Jr., Wayne Fulton and Kenny Fulton, two step-grandchildren, Deanna Sloas and Josh Morgan, seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Fulton, Travis Fulton, Trevor Fulton, Danielle Fulton, Lori Jo Fulton, Bobby Fulton and Juliann Fulton, three step-great-grandchildren, Dillon, Harley and Nicholas and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 5, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Caldwell and Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellington Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dan Fulton, Jr., Wayne Fulton, Kenny Fulton, Fred Ellington, Leroy Hodges, Jr., Jamie Brown, Steve Hodges and John Ellington.

Jessie Evans Rivers
1923-2008
MOREHEAD – Jessie Evans Rivers, age 85, of Heritage Place, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
She was born April 26, 1923, in Carter County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Ralph and Mabel Turner Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Ora, and Frank Evans; two sisters, Sue Messer and Wilma Gearhart; and one grandson, Damon Rivers. Her husband, Frank Edwin Rivers, passed away in 1978.
Mrs. Rivers is survived by two sons, Brother Don Rivers of Morehead, Kentucky, and Michael Edwin Rivers of Muncie, Indiana; three sisters, Ruth Horton and Bessie Middleton, both of Morehead, Kentucky, and Edna Middleton of Yorktown, Indiana; three grandchildren, Angela Decker, Derrick Rivers, and April Rivers; and five great grandchildren, Jacinda Rivers, Gavin Rivers, Sidney Decker, Loren Decker and Lane Decker.
Mrs. Rivers was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Ray Glover and Brother Mitch Roe officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Carter County.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Rivers, David Puckett, and Marty Horton.
Visitation for Mrs. Rivers will be after 4 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
