Alene Dye Owens Moore
1915-2008


MOREHEAD –Alene Dye Owens Moore, age 93, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.

She was born July 12, 1915, in Rowan County, Kentucky, to the late Jerry and Nella Mae Howard Dye. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Rev. Billy Ray Owens, Robert Lee Owens, and Frankie Wayne Owens; one granddaughter, Jamie L. Owens; one sister, Sylvia Dye; and one brother, Joseph Dye.

She is survived by five sons, Donald Owens and Douglas Owens both of Mansfield, Ohio, David Owens of Columbus, Ohio, Mark Owens of Morehead, Kentucky and Buddy G. Owens of Columbia, South Carolina; five daughters, Vivian Caudill of Carter County, Kentucky, Patty Jo Owens of Mansfield, Ohio, Margie Burgy of Morehead, Kentucky, Elaine Owens of Dayton, Ohio, and Sherry Adkins of Morehead, Kentucky; one sister, Dorothy Montgomery of Bosie, Idaho; two brothers, Martin Dye, Jr., and Elwood Dye, both of Michigan; 23 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Alene was a former health care worker in Dayton, Ohio, and retired in the Mansfield, Ohio, area. She returned to Kentucky in 2006 and resided at Cave Run Manor. She was of the Church of God faith.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Morehead First Church of the Nazarene with Brother James Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Peters, Jeff Peters, Tommy Jones, Greg Owens, Mark Owens, and Cesar Carreon.

Visitation for Alene Dye Owens Moore is after 6 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Mae Caudill Thompson
1914-2008


MOREHEAD – Dessie Mae Caudill Thompson, age 95, of Lyons Avenue, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2008, at the Robertson County Health Care Facility in Mt. Olivet, Kentucky.

Born April 10, 1914, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Lucy Nester Caudill. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Murvel C. Caudill on February 22, 1967, and her husband, Norman (Jiggs) Thompson on December 4, 2003.

Mae retired from the Rowan County School system following a teaching career of 40 years at Haldeman, Tilden Hogge, and Morehead Elementary.

Graveside services and interment were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gary McQuain officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
