Richard G. Adkins
1940-2008
MOREHEAD – Richard G. Adkins, 68, of Columbus, died December 22, 2008, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus after an extended illness.
Born December 12, 1940, in Morehead, KY, he was the son of the late Virgil Adkins and Leon Johnson Rietvelt. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Adkins, and one daughter, Kimberly Basil.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Adkins of Columbus, OH; three daughters, Jessica Adkins of Columbus, OH, Tracy Wagoner of Shelby, OH, and Jill Adkins of Willard, OH; four sons, Derrick (Valerie) Gates of Shelby, OH; Darrick Gates of Sandusky, OH, James Jardine of Grove City, OH, and Jeffrey Adkins of Willard, OH; five sisters, Betty Brown, Janie Hamm, and Kathy Hamm all of Morehead, KY, Linda VanBibber of Columbus, OH, and Carolyn Sotora of Shelby, OH; three brothers, John Reitvelt and Leroy Adkins, both of Florida, and Virgil Ray Adkins of Newark, Ohio; and several grandchildren, including Robbie Wagoner of Shelby, OH.
Rick was a retired truck driver with Consolidated Freightways in Columbus and a member of Teamsters Union Local 413.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Keeton and Rev. Clarke Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Ditney Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Lee Brown, Jessie Johnson, Gregory Johnson, Mike Roberts, Neil Proper, Michael Walton, and Robbie Wagoner.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Bobby Joe Hall
1931-2008
Bobby Joe Hall, 77, was born July 25, 1931 to the late Walter and Delia Scott Hall in Helena, MT and returned to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, December 16, 2008. Reared in Morehead, KY, Mr. Hall was a retired U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a sales representative for Pinkerton & Burns Security Company and warehouse manager for Copy Corporation. He was a member of Glasgow Baptist Church and an inactive member of the Masonic Lodge and Kosair Shrine. Among those who preceded him in death include his parents; daughter, Becky Clark Chappell; grandson, Joe Clark; and his dear dog, Jaguar. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Dolores Bradbury Hall; daughter, Cindy Meadows (Randy); grandchildren, Angela Norris (Kelly) and Madison Lockard; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kayly and Tori Norris; sister, Patty Thomas (Eddie), of Morehead, KY; special cousin, Betty Jean Tubb; dear friends, Sid Swinney and Bill Neal; and a host of other family and friends. Friends may pay their respects from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Road). A private funeral service will be held Friday.
Howard Milton Jessee
1931-2008
MOREHEAD – Howard Milton Jessee, age 77, of Bruce Road, Soldier, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008, at his residence.
He was born July 13, 1931, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Charles Haden and Gladys Dorothy Bradley Jessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Jessee, on August 17, 2002, and one brother, Harold Jessee.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Marie Webb Jessee; two sons, Bruce Allen Jessee and Wayne Jessee, both of Soldier, Kentucky; two daughters, Carol Ann Shelton and Kimberly Sue Jessee, both of Morehead, Kentucky; one brother, Ernest Jessee of Englewood, Ohio; one sister, Yvonne Crockett French of New Castle, Indiana; and seven grandchildren.
Howard was a self-employed auto-body mechanic and a member of the Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ray Glover, and Rev. Gayle Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradley Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Lukas Jessie, Mitchell Jessie, Gary Jessie, Roy Lands, Matthew Lands, and Steve Johnson.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Delmar Lee Reynolds
1926-2008
MOREHEAD – Delmar Lee Reynolds, age 82, of Farmers, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008, at his residence.
He was born May 26, 1926, in New Castle, Indiana, and was the son of the late Espie and Vivian Hayes Reynolds. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil Reynolds.
Delmar’s wife, Ressa Irene Kissick Reynolds, passed away on July 2, 1989, and a son, Barry Lee Reynolds, on August 15, 2005.
Survivors include two daughters, Lori Arnett and husband Paul of Farmers, Kentucky, and Marsha Lee and husband Richard of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, Dale Eugene Reynolds of Hillsboro, Kentucky, and Ed Reynolds of Muses Mill, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Tracy Donathan, Angela Utterback, Kyle Arnett, Kevin Utterback, Luke Arnett, and Ressa Arnett; and seven great grandchildren.
Delmar served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retired master plumber. He was an employee of Perks for 25 years and a former instructor with the Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program (E.K.C.E.P.). He was an avid woodcrafter and artist. His paintings had been exhibited at the KY Folk Art Center. Delmar also enjoyed flowers and talking about Christ. He was a member of the Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Andy Lands officiating. Burial will follow in the Carey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Reynolds, Frank Reynolds, Phillip Reynolds, Dale Reynolds, Russell Reynolds, Johnny Bowling, Kyle Arnett, and Luke Arnett.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Mitchell Shawn Ross
1974-2008
MOREHEAD – Mitchell Shawn Ross, age 34, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008, at his residence.
He was born January 28, 1974, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and is the son of Claude and Marcella Hyatt Ross of Morehead.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Jennifer Holbrook Ross; one son, Blake Mitchell Ross and one daughter, Brooke Rochelle Ross, at home; two brothers, Tony Ross of New Castle, Indiana, and Josh Ross of Hillsboro, Kentucky; and three sisters, Michele Reisenbigler, Sherry Mayse, and Juanita Davidson, all of Morehead, Kentucky.
Mitchell was an employee of Best One Tire.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Don Rivers officiating. Burial will follow in the Holbrook-Porter Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Brad Adams, Josh Ross, Josh Porter, Mike Lewis, Brandyn Hale, and Mitchell Burton.

Dale Smith Miller Turpin
1908-2008
MOREHEAD – Dale Smith Miller Turpin, 100, of West New York Avenue, DeLand, FL, a former resident of Morehead and widow of Len Miller, passed away December 27, 2008. She was born April 19, 1908, in Hindman, KY, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Hagan Smith.
Dale graduated from the University of Kentucky and received her Master’s Degree from Stetson University. She married Leonard (Len) Miller and lived in Morehead, KY where Len coached and was head of the physical education department at Morehead State College for thirteen years. Len was posthumously inducted into the Morehead State University Athletic Hall of Fame, had a scholarship named in his honor, and the Len Miller Room and a bronze bust of Len located in the Academic-Athletic Complex.
Their son, Michael Len Miller, was born in 1941 and was three and 1/2 years old when his father died at age 38 in 1945.
Mrs. Miller taught in Hindman, KY and Winchester, KY, before she accepted an offer to teach at the former Boston Avenue School in DeLand, FL. She and her son relocated to DeLand and lived with her parents.
In 1951, Mrs. Miller joined the First United Methodist Church in DeLand and continued her interest in Sunday School. She served a term as president of the United Methodist Women and also a term as head of a prayer group. She was always interested in the Church and gave the Choir Bells which are used in the Church today.
Dale belonged to the B. F. Chapter of P.E.O. and was a member of a Garden Club. She was also a member of the West Volusia Retired Teachers Association.
When she retired in 1974, Mrs. Miller married Mr. James William Turpin of Kentucky, who passed away in 1990.
Survivors of Mrs. Turpin are her son, Michael Len Miller, and his wife Cynthia of DeLand, FL; a granddaughter, Michelle Len; two grandsons, Michael Charles and Maxx Logan Miller; and a brother, Phil Smith of Jackson, KY.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the Lee Cemetery in Morehead with Dr. Jack Ellis officiating.
Visitation is after 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
