August 3, 2010 — Evelyn Adkins Sturgill Ellis

1929-2010


    MOREHEAD - Mrs. Evelyn Adkins Sturgill Ellis, Age 80 of Louisville, Kentucky formerly of Morehead, passed away Saturday evening July 31, 2010 at The Atria Stony Brook in Louisville.

    She was born in Marion, Indiana on November 15, 1929 to the late John R. and Delphia Lands Adkins.

    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Colonel Alston Ramsey Ellis, one brother, John Paul Adkins and two sisters, Margaret Louise Adkins and Ina Clo Templeman.

    Mrs. Ellis was retired from the Winters National Bank in Dayton, Ohio where she was the branch manager. After she retired, she moved to Clearwater, Florida where she enjoyed playing golf, bingo and spending time with her family.

    She was a graduate of the Morehead High School and was also a cheerleader during her high school years.

    Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Maxwell and her husband Scott of Louisville, Kentucky.

    Two brothers, Donald Lee Adkins and Larry Adkins both of Morehead.

    Three sisters, Jean Barker, Wanda Marshall and Barbara Ann Collins all of Morehead.

    Five Grandchildren; Brian K. Krug, Jason J. Krug, Todd W. Krug, Tami J. King and Tina M. Crabtree.

    Nine Great-Grandchildren; Cody Krug, Kayla Krug, Samantha Krug, Dylan Krug, Brianna Krug, Micah Krug, Mariyah Krug, Clark Crabtree and Cailyn Crabtree.

    One Great-Great-Grandchild Brooke Krug.

    Also, several cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

    Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Thursday in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Lands officiating. The Eulogy and Obituary will be read by Paula Collins.

    Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday.

    Pall Bearers will be Brian Krug, Jason Krug, Todd Krug, Jimmy King, Josh Crabtree and Cody Krug.

Robert “Keith” Oaks

1963 - 2010


    MOREHEAD – Robert “Keith” Oaks, age 46, of Sharkey Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 30, 2010, at his residence.

    He was born November 7, 1963, in La Porte, Indiana, son of Henry and Martha J. Robbins Oaks. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and one brother, Gary Oaks.

    Keith is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lucille Gentry Oaks; two daughters, Kristian LeiAnn Oaks of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and Ashley Michaela Oaks of Morehead, Kentucky; one honorary son, Michael Christopher Church of Georgetown, Kentucky; one sister, Christine Dimon of Athens, Tennessee; and two brothers, Calvin Oaks of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Ricky Oaks of Greenville, Tennessee.

    Keith, a former supervisor with Guardian Automotive, moved to Morehead three years ago from Buckley, Illinois. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, deer hunting and fishing, and Sunday drives with his wife.

    Keith was a member of the Church of Christ in Van Lear, Kentucky.

    Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Joe Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Winchester Cemetery, Winchester, Kentucky.

    Pallbearers will be Jeannette Brigantino, Michael Dimon, Casey Holbrook, Michael Hillard, Michael Church, and Dan Farmer.

    Visitation is from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

Jason Stephen VanHoose II

1992 - 2010


    MOREHEAD – Jason Stephen VanHoose II, age 18, of North Wilson Avenue, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

    Born February 3, 1992, at Ireland Army Hospital in Fort Knox, Kentucky, he is the son of Jason S. VanHoose of Morehead, Kentucky, and Evelyn Diann Fannin VanHoose, who passed away November 8, 2007.

    In addition to his father, he is survived by one brother, Justin Scott VanHoose and one sister, Andrea Leigh VanHoose, both at home; paternal grandparents, John and Sandra Oppenheimer VanHoose of Bradenton, Florida; maternal grandparents, Carl and Rosemary Baker Fannin of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and other devoted family members.

    Jason was a 2010 graduate of Morgan County High School and was preparing to enter the Toyota Work Study Program in Georgetown pursuing an Associate Degree in Engineering. He was a member of SADD and TSA, played golf, ran track and cross country in high school. He loved his family and especially enjoyed computer activities. Jason was a member of Trinity Christian Fellowship.

    Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Wade Muncy officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Carter County.

    Visitation is from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
