Donnie C. Martin
1948-2009
MOREHEAD – Donnie Clay Martin, age 61, of Oak Lane (Leatherwood), Salt Lick, Kentucky, formerly of Whippoorwill Valley in Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at his residence.
He was born April 29, 1948, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, and is the son of Lucille Spencer Martin of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and the late Cruger Martin.
In addition to his mother, Donnie is survived by his wife, Carolyn Pack Martin, whom he wed February 1, 1970; one son, Adam C. Martin and his wife Lavonda of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters, Kim Martin-Dawkins and her husband William A. Dawkins, Jr. of Sellersburg, Indiana, and Heather Apple and her husband Jeffrey of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; and four grandchildren, William “Alex” Dawkins, Ashley Apple, Trevor Apple, and Tyler Martin.
Donnie is also survived by one sister, Diana White of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; one stepsister, Faye Applewhite of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; and two nephews, Andre’ White and Sean White.
Donnie was a supervisor at Montgomery County Social Services in Mt. Sterling and enjoyed boating, fishing, and sports.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Brian Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Adam C. Martin, Andre’ White, Sean White, William A. Dawkins, Jr., Jeffrey Apple, and Michael Pack.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Gilford “Gib” Mayhorn
1928-2009
MOREHEAD - Gilford “Gib” Mayhorn, age 81, of Bluefield Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born May 28, 1928, in Pike County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Melvin and Elizabeth Eldridge Mayhorn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by four sons, Steve (Susie) Mayhorn, Randy (Connie) Mayhorn, and Thurman Carroll Mayhorn all of Morehead, Kentucky, and Ronnie (Lois) Mayhorn of Wilmington, Delaware; one daughter, Judy Mayhorn of Wilmington, Delaware; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers, Mark Mayhorn of Delaware, and Ralph Mayhorn of Freeburn, Kentucky; two sisters, Elsie McCoy of Ransom, Kentucky, and Fay Hatfield of Wilmington, Delaware; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Gib was a farmer, heavy equipment operator, and coal miner for the Kentucky Carbon Coal Company in Pike County, Kentucky. He enjoyed woodworking, gunsmithing, fishing, and hunting.
Funeral services will be conducted1 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Steve Mayhorn and Brother Johnny Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren and nephews.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
