James Booth
1924-2009
SALT LICK - James B. "Jay" Booth, 85, of 95 Oakdale Drive, Clearfield, passed away Monday November 2, 2009 at his residence after an extended illness.
Born April 30, 1924 in Bath County, he was the son of the late James and Gladys McCarty Booth. Mr. Booth was a mechanic and retired Rowan County Board Of Education Transportation Supervisor, retiring in 1988 after 24 years service and had also served in the Civilian Conservation Corp in Idaho in his younger years and was a former rural route mail carrier in Rowan County. He was a devoted member of the Midland First Church Of God and enjoyed traveling, working outside and spending time with his family and church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Ingram Booth, 1 daughter, Brenda Rigsby and her husband Steve of Clearfield, 1 grandson, Christopher S. Rigsby of Clearfield, 1 niece and 3 nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ethel Rae Metsker and Edna Pearl Maynard.
Funeral services for Mr. Booth were conducted Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Midland First Church Of God with Rev. Bush Stevenson and Rev. Guy McKenzie officiating. Burial followed in the Jones Cemetery at Midland. Powell Funeral Home of Salt Lick cared for arrangements. David Eugene Fields
1956-2009
MOREHEAD – David Eugene Fields, 53, of Little Road, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at his home.
He was born on August 14, 1956 in Buckham County, North Carolina.
David was a former truck driver. He enjoyed Nascar, gardening, hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Alvin Christopher, an infant brother and an infant sister.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Skaggs Fields, his mother, Lucille Fields Christopher of North Carolina, one son, Randy Pelfrey and his wife, Onia of Morehead, one daughter, Becky Pelfrey and her fiancé, Scott Mabry of Morehead, five brothers, Lee Christopher and his wife, Lavonda, William Christopher and his wife, Tammy, Perry Christopher and his wife, Jean and Terry Christopher and his wife, Terri all of North Carolina and Dwayne Christopher of Morehead, four grandchildren, Brandon, Alisha, Jaden and William and special friends, Joe and Kim Roberts.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM. Saturday, November 7 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Brother Jason Salyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams-Turner Cemetery at Elliottville. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Lee Christopher, William Christopher, Perry Christopher, Terry Christopher, Dwayne Christopher and Randy Pelfrey and honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Pelfrey, Dee Kindinger, Jeremy Holbrook and Austin Barker.

Rev. James Kenneth “Kenny” Hamilton
1943-2009
MOREHEAD – Rev. James Kenneth “Kenny” Hamilton, age 66, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
Born September 11, 1943, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Trace Brooks and Irnea Fraley Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Adkins Hamilton, one son, Tracy Hamilton and wife Connie of Morehead, Kentucky; two daughters, Rossaline Deheart and Kimberly Hamilton, both of Morehead, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers, Milton Hamilton and Vernon Hamilton, both of Morehead, Kentucky; three sisters, Barbara Lawhorn, Mildred Parker, and Helen Tanner, all of Morehead, Kentucky; one brother-in-law, Dennis L. Adkins of Grayson, Kentucky; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Rev. Hamilton was an evangelist and minister for 39 years, serving the Soldier Wesleyan Church for 14 years, and a lumber inspector. He enjoyed attending church and spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe Williams, Rev. Randy Binion, and Rev. Charles Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be John Barton, Tommy Masters, Chuck Williams, Bill Howell, Joe Davis, John Hanna, Hoppy Himes and Harold Cunningham.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Lula Fay Eldridge Kiser
1941-2009
MOREHEAD – Lula Fay Eldridge Kiser, age 68, of Oney Hollow, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009, at her residence after a lifetime of illness. Lula had been bedridden and unable to leave the house for several years.
Born March 1, 1941, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Preston and Lillie Mae Pence Eldridge. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Fraley, Fredia Crumb, and Verna Riddle, and one brother, Charles Eldridge.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Kiser, who is in a nursing home; one brother, Roscoe Eldridge of Morehead, Kentucky; and four sisters, Mary Brown of Greenup, Kentucky, Carma Eldridge and Clara Goodman, both of Morehead, Kentucky, and Shirley Blevins of Glasgow, Kentucky, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kiser was a homemaker and had worked as a companion to the elderly for a period of time. She enjoyed the socialization of family and friends.
An Old Regular Baptist Church funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Gary Blevins, Elder Ira Adkins, and Elder Estill Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Eldridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Brown, Michael Brown, David Brown, Tommy Riddle, Tommy Cains, Farrell Howard, and Bill Moore.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with a special Old Regular Baptist Church service to be held 6:30 Friday with Elder Paul Boggs, Elder Gary Adkins and Elder Willis Tolliver officiating.

Harold G. Slone
MOREHEAD – Harold G. Slone, age 64, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, son of the late Jack Slone and Eva Slone Kissick, passed away October 6, 2009, at his home after a short illness.
Mr. Slone is survived by his son, Harold Slone, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter, Sacha Slone of Lexington, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Joshua and Tulula Miller; his brother, Jack Slone; and his many friends and relatives. All will sorely miss him.
Harold was a graduate of Morehead High School, Morehead State University, and received his Doctor of Law degree from the University of Kentucky. He formerly resided in Lexington where he practiced law for several years. In 1986 he moved to Atlanta where he formed Pace Manufacturing Company which he built into one of the largest candle manufacturing and gift shop merchandising companies in the nation. In 1999 he sold those operations to an international company and soon became involved in other ventures throughout the United States including land development, warehousing, and oil and gas explorations and productions.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2009, at the Stanton Cemetery in Stanton, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a humane society of your choice.
