Carol B. Sparks Lewis Boyd
1947-2009
MOREHEAD – Carol B. Sparks Lewis Boyd, age 62, of Andrew Boyd Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, went home to be with God, her Savior, on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, after her second brave battle with breast cancer.
She was born August 8, 1947, on Buffalo in Haldeman, Kentucky, to Bert Edison Sparks and Virginia Mayme Cox.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 30 years, Andrew Wesley Boyd, whom she married on March 9, 1979; her step father, Bernard Lewis; her sisters, Mayflower Sparks, Loveadean Sparks, Geraldine Lewis; her brother, Lacy Carl Lewis, Sr.; her step daughter, Andrea Kay Boyd Myers McGaha Peek; her step son, Wesley Eugene Boyd; and her step grandsons, Jason Eli Hartsook; and step great grandsons, twins Tristen Lee and Caleb Lee Wallace.
She leave to mourn her passing her daughter Vicki Lynn Boyd Thurman Scales Ingle of Morehead, Kentucky; her step children: son-in-law, Robert Linzie Peek of Celina, Tennessee, JoAnn Len Boyd Mitchell White and her husband Kenny of Maysville, Kentucky, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Bentley Boyd of Morehead, Kentucky, Donna Andrea Boyd Tackett, Michael Shadrach Boyd and his wife Nancy Kidd Boyd of Richmond, Kentucky, Phillip Wayne Boyd and his wife Tonya Tredway Boyd of Jeffersonville, Kentucky, Tammy Lea Boyd and her significant other, Willard Pinkerman of Morehead, Kentucky, Timothy Andrew Boyd, Sr. and his wife Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Pence Boyd of Morehead, Kentucky.
She also leaves 24 step grandchildren, 37 step great grandchildren, and three step great-great grandchildren. She also leaves her brothers and sisters: Delmus and Mary Lewis, James and Joyce Lewis both of Ohio, Lester Lee Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky, Stella May Lewis Barricks and her husband Bennie Gerald Barricks, Donnie Gene and Marilyn Lewis of Indiana, Aileen Lewis Calton and her husband Roy Calton, and her sister-in-law, Nancy Calton Lewis, all of Morehead, Kentucky; and her step father, Daniel Bender of West Liberty, Kentucky.
Carol worked for 40 years in the sewing factories of Cowden’s, Big Yank, Austin Apparel, Carhartt, and Bath Manufacturing. She drove a cab for White Top Taxi, Veteran’s Taxi, and Boyd’s Taxi; she worked in the mushroom mines of Lawton in Carter County. She finished her public working career at Nestle in Mount Sterling and Emerson Power Transmission known as Seal Master Bearing in Morehead, Kentucky.
After being out of school for 40 years, she received her G.E.D. at the age of 56 and then went back to school and became a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She was a born again Christian and a member of East End Church of God in Morehead, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Larry William Messer, Joseph Benjamin Boyd, Billy Ball, Alex Wagoner, Phillip Wayne Boyd, Jr., James Wayne Norris, and Timothy Andrew Boyd, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Christian Weigel, Dr. Allen Lim, Melvin Lawhorn, Carl Lawhorn, Roy Calton, James Pelfrey, Geoff Hamm, Gene Barker, Peggy Adkins, Debby Fultz, and all of her Sunday school kids at East End Church of God.
The celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Tom Redmon, Brother Dewayne Johnson, and Brother Scott Cummins officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Boyd Family Cemetery on Andrew Boyd Lane in Vale, Kentucky.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, and anytime on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Joseph Isaac Cox
1982-2009
OLIVE HILL – Joseph Isaac Cox, age 27, of Lemaster Cemetery Road, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009.
Born March 19, 1982, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he is the son of Ada Sabon Cox Lewis Hughes of Morehead, Kentucky, and William Allen Cox and wife Jane of Spencerville, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Anastasha Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky, and Twila Barker of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; two brothers, Devin Lewis and Levi Lewis, both of Morehead, Kentucky; three half brothers, Adam Cox, Josh Cox, and Ethan Cox, all of Spencerville, Indiana; maternal grandmother, Betty Sabon of Morehead, Kentucky; paternal grandmother, Roberta Cox of West Liberty, Kentucky; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, William Allen Cox, II.
Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and listening to music.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bishop Ted Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Rice Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Levi Lewis, Devin Lewis, Jason Dillon, Daniel Dillon, Alfred Sabon, and Walter Sabon. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Dillon and David Barker.
Visitation is after 7 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.

Bert Crockett
1923-2009
MOREHEAD – Bert Crockett, 86, of Brown Ridge, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the residence of his daughter, Jeanetta Johnson.
He was born on January 11, 1923 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late George and Mary Ellen Jones Crockett.
Mr. Crockett was retired from General Refractories in Olive Hill and was also a farmer. For many years he drove a truck and hauled water to families in the area. Mr. Crockett enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and looking at his cows.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Jones Crockett, who passed away on February 18, 2009, two brothers, Haskell Crockett and Burl Crockett and five sisters, Bess Seaman, Avis Johnson, Hazel Caudill, Lillian Padgett and Glenna Crockett.
Survivors include four daughters, Glenna Crockett, Jeanetta Johnson and Judy Barnett all of Morehead and Mary Sue Conner of Winter Haven, Florida, eight grandchildren, Brian Johnson, Rebecca Johnson, Barrett Johnson, Crystal Barnett, Shawna Barnett, Mark Caudill, Brad Caudill and Jay Caudill and nine great-grandchildren, Caleb Brown, Emma Grace Brown, Sadie Johnson, Haley Hitch, Chandler Cantrell, Cindy Caudill, Matthew Caudill, Andrew Caudill and Casey Caudill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 21, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Billy T. Rice and Ricky Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Fey-Crockett Cemetery. Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Friday.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Patricia Ann Switzer McCleese
INDEPENDENCE - Patricia Ann Switzer McCleese, 66, of Independence, passed away Thursday, Nov. 12 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth Healthcare of Edgewood.
She was a homemaker and worked in the cafeteria for Kenton County Schools, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Latonia and enjoyed camping and collecting dolls.
Survivors include her husband, Wilburn McCleese of Independence; one son, Dale McCleese of Hebron; her father, Richard Switzer Sr. of Independence; one brother, Richard Switzer Jr. of Florence; and two grandchildren.
Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home of Independence. Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church of Latonia. Burial was in Highland Cemetery at Ft. Mitchell.
