Boain Fraley

WINCHESTER – Boain Fraley, 71, widower of Jean Fraley, passed away at 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at his home.

A native of Estill County, he was the son of the late William Bedford and Ethel Venable Fraley and a Diamond Forrest Resources employee.

Survivors include a daughter, Pam King of Winchester; a son, Boain (Leann) Fraley Jr. of Nicholasville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Fraley and Maggie (Don) Beauvier, all of Winchester; three brothers, Howard (Liz) Fraley and Thomas Fraley, all of Ohio, and Earnest (Grace) Fraley of Delaware; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Brewer; a brother, William Fraley; a son-in-law, Donald King; and a nephew, Randall Reece.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28 at Scobee Funeral Home in Winchester by the Rev. Lee Cruse.

Virgie Smith Shields
1914-2009


MOREHEAD – Virgie Smith Shields, 94, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Fountain Circle Health and Rehabilitation in Winchester, Kentucky.

Born December 10, 1914, in Whitley County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Reynolds and Sara Nan Logan and foster daughter the late Ervin and Ella Honaker Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kelly N. Shields, and two sons, Norman Lee Shields and Alvis Truman Shields.

Mrs. Shields is survived by one son, Don Shields, of Lexington, Kentucky.

Graveside services and interment were conducted Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Brown Cemetery with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
