Charlotte Jean Deem Calton
1957-2009


Charlotte Jean Deem Calton, age 52, of Atlantic Beach, FL (formerly of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Morehead, KY) was called home to be with God on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Baptist Medical Center Beaches, Jacksonville Beach, FL after a lengthy illness of cancer.

She was born August 28, 1957 in Akron, OH and was the daughter of the late Lester R. Deem and Norma Deem Melrose of Atlantic Beach, FL. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter and step father, Okey K. Melrose.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Calton; mother, Norma Deem Melrose, of Atlantic Beach, FL; two brothers, Lester R. Deem (Angelika) of Winston Salem, N. C. and George W. Deem (Kathy) of Jacksonville Beach, FL; a special great aunt, Alice Scott of Morehead, KY; a special uncle, Paul Jackson of Munroe Falls, OH; several nieces, nephews, and great-nephews; and many, many friends.

Charlotte graduated from Rowan County High School and Akron Institute of Technology. She was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. She was employed by the Allstate Insurance Company of Hudson, OH from 1993 - 2006. She was a member of Ravenna Freewill Baptist Church in Ravenna, OH and Oak Harbor Baptist Church in Atlantic Beach, FL.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Oak Harbor Baptist Church. The service of praise and worship will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Oak Harbor Baptist Church, Atlantic Beach, FL with Pastor Randy Crews and Pastor Jack Taylor of Ravenna Freewill Baptist Church officiating.

The interment will follow at Beaches Memorial Park of Atlantic Beach, FL with full military honors performed by Beaches Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Alan Hutson, Paul Hutson, Ray Deem, Kenny Deem, Shawn Deem and John Berg III. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Johnson, Steve Goolsair, Bob Gonzales and Mark Woods.

After burial, a celebration of Charlotte’s life will follow at Oak Harbor Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral arrangements by First Coast Funeral Home, Atlantic Beach, FL.

Margie Tolliver Franklin
1930-2009


MOREHEAD – Margie Tolliver Franklin, 79, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 in the Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson.

She was born on September 20, 1930 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charlie and Elizabeth Conley Tolliver.

Mrs. Franklin was a homemaker and a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God. She enjoyed playing the piano, gospel music and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William “Buddy” Alfrey who passed away in 1975, her second husband, Rev. Ardith Franklin who passed away in 1986 and six sisters, Jewell Reams, Opal Saunders, Ethel Eddison, Katherine Burns, Lorraine Tussey and Marie England.

Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca A. Dailey and her husband, Timothy of Winchester, one brother, Charles Tolliver, Jr. and his wife, Frances of Hitchens, four grandchildren, Tiffany Dailey, Erica Blair, Shane Dailey and Lindsei Gray, three great-grandchildren, Paxton Dailey, Hannah Blair and Hunter Gray and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 9, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Redmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery. Visitation is after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be James Blair, Jonathan Gray, Shane Dailey, Paxton Dailey, Matthew McKinney and Scott Cummins.
