Terry Wayne Butcher
1947 – 2009
OWINGSVILLE – Terry Wayne Butcher, age 62, of Old Sand Road, Owingsville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009, at his residence.
He was born March 2, 1947, in Bath County, Kentucky, son of the late William Thomas and Anna Lee Spencer Butcher. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Brown Butcher; one son, Tim Butcher; one brother, A. B. Butcher; and one sister, Betty Rexroat.
Terry is survived by his wife, Melissa Gross Butcher; one son, Chris (Melissa) Butcher of Owingsville, Kentucky; one daughter, Terri Lynn Butcher Owingsville, Kentucky; one stepdaughter, Sondra Frederick of Carlisle, Kentucky; and four grandchildren, Kayla Derossett, Sarah Frederick, David Frederick, Jr. and Braden Butcher.
Also surviving are two sisters, Katherine Hall and Teresa Padgett, both of Waynesburg, Kentucky.
Terry was the owner of Butcher Trucking and was best known for his love of drag racing. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church.
Visitation is on Monday, October 19, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Christian Assembly of God, 1834 Owingsville Road, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, with Brother Vola Brown officiating. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at the church. Interment will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be E. H. Snedegar, Danny Garrett, Jimmy Craycraft, Donnie Brown, Wayne Everman, and Perry Scott Barber.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Johnny Louis Cox
1940 – 2009
MOREHEAD – Johnny Louis Cox, 69, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at his home.
He was born on April 18, 1940 in Lewis County, Kentucky, a son of the late Austin and Alice Queen Cox.
Mr. Cox owned and operated Johnny’s Barber Shop in Morehead for 47 years. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Mt. Pisgah Christian Church. Mr. Cox was a graduate of Ashland Barber School and attended Morehead State University. He enjoyed running, walking, fishing, hunting, playing pool and he was a sports fanatic who enjoyed all sports.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Teddy Cox.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Estep Cox, whom he married on April 26, 1963, three daughters, Valerie Tranbarger and her husband, Jeff of Flemingsburg, Johnna Conley and her husband, Delbert of Paintsville and Jenny Pennington and her husband, Lee of Morehead, two brothers, Jerry Cox and his wife, Kathleen of Cincinnati, Ohio and Tommy Cox and his wife, Wanda of Vanceburg, grandchildren, Brooke Rickey and her husband, Chad, Michael Conley, J. P. Tranbarger and his wife, Stacey, Emily Sloan, Caleb Sloan, Bailee Pennington and Macee Pennington, one great-grandson, Benjamin Rickey and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Mt. Pisgah Christian Church with Rev. James DeAtley and Jarrod DeAtley officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kevin Crum, Vaughn Fraley, Dale Estep, Randy Bradley, Terrell Bradley, Caleb Sloan, J. P. Tranbarger, Tommy Cox Jr. and Randy Cox and honorary pallbearers were Jack Thompson, Gary Pope, Paul Tranbarger, Carl Sizemore, Bo Hamlin, Jay Allen Marcus, Don Ward, Willard Adkins, Joe Fraley, Bill Estep, Jr. Estep and Willie Lee Pennington.

Gracie M. Slone
1916-2009
GEORGETOWN - Gracie M. Slone, 93, passed away October 15, 2009 in Georgetown. She was born June 12, 1916 in Rowan County, KY to the late Oscar E. and Cora Wilson Stegall.
She is survived by daughter Lisa Howard-Dean of Georgetown, granddaughters Shari Lane Black of Morehead and Kimberly Renee Burke of Georgetown, great grandchildren Greg Porter of Morehead, Jacob Burke and Jordan Burke both of Georgetown, brother Clayton Eugene Stegall of Morehead, a number of nieces and nephews including special nieces Ina Edwards of Dayton, OH and Jann Gierman of South Lyon, MI, step sons Harold G. Slone and Jack K. Slone both of Atlanta, GA.
She was preceded in death by husbands Tom Howard and Lurville “Jack” Slone, daughter Marsha Gail Howard-Wingo, sisters Zona Slone, Elsie Hall, Daisy Slone and brothers Herman Stegall and Curt Stegall.
Funeral services are 1pm Monday, October 19, 2009 at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Farrell officiating. Burial will be at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens with pallbearers Greg Porter, Woody Slone, Leon Hamilton, Jacob Burke, John Burke, and Kevin Dean. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Lane Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205.
