5/31/12 — Michael Frances Padula, age 53, of Sharkey Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, from an apparent accidental drowning.
Born June 3, 1959, in Newark, New Jersey, Mike is the son of Marlene Valask Padula of Morehead, Kentucky, and James Victor Padula, Sr., who passed away January 15, 2008.
In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by one brother, James “Jay” Padula and Lydia of Morehead; three sisters, Michele Coston of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jacquelyn Caudill and Danny of Morehead, and Karyn Krueger and John of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Ryan Zachary Adams, Maria Padula (Mark) Campbell, Monica Padula, Russell (Beth) Coston, Christie Coston, Curtis Coston, and Caylie Coston (Joshua) Monroe, Anthony, D. J., Eric, Ethan, and Angela Caudill, and Nychole (David) Kirkland; great nieces and nephews, Zachary David Kirkland, Calob Vincent Monroe, Jocelyn Campbell, Carleigh Victoria Monroe, Cameron Victor Monroe, and Carter Blane Adams; and special friend, Cindi Russell.
As the MSU Farm Maintenance Supervisor at the Derrickson Agricultural Complex for 25 years, Mike enjoyed his work and treasured his friendships with coworkers and students. He especially liked giving tours to visiting elementary students.
Michael followed the ideals of St. Francis of Assisi throughout his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who was always kind to the outdoors. Leroy, his carin terrier, was a constant companion. Always giving to others, Michael never met anyone he did not like. He was endearingly known to many as “Uncle Mike.”
Michael was member of Jesus Our Savior Catholic Church.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Jesus Our Savior Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Prabell officiating. Interment will follow in the Caudill Cemetery on Sharkey Road.
Pallbearers: Russell Coston, Curtis Coston, Anthony Caudill, D. J. Caqudill, Eric Caudill, David Kirkland, Josh Monroe, and Ryan Adams.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Morehead State University Foundation, Inc., Michael Padula Memorial Fund, Palmer Development House, Morehead, KY 40351. Donations will be used to support students at the Derrickson Agricultural Complex (MSU Farm).
