Charles Eugene “Gene” Parsons

1946 – 2012

Charles Eugene “Gene” Parsons, 66, of Oats Hill Road, Olive Hill, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, at his home.

Born February 7, 1946, in Carter County, he was the son of the late Elias Parsons and Sarah Elizabeth Reynolds Parsons.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Claude, Clyde, Harold, R C and Arnold Parsons and two sisters, Genevieve “Marge” Parsons and Dovie Parsons. 

Gene is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patty Phillips Parsons, whom he married February 3, 1964; five daughters, Sharon Kiser and husband Wayne of Morehead, Vicky Parsons of Clearfield, Kathy Irvin and husband Stanley of Cleveland, Georgia, Lisa Griffith and husband William and Tiffany Burnett and husband Josh, all of Grayson; seven grandchildren, Amy Kiser Piercy and husband Derek, Jenna Kiser, Charles Kiser, Stephen Irvin, Connor Irvin, Hallie Griffith and Olivia Burnett; two step grandchildren, Allen Irvin and Makayla  Burnett; two sisters, Betty Parsons Schroeder of Sarasota, Florida and Carolyn Parsons Sparks of Clearfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene was a self-employed auto body repairman and construction worker.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on guns, playing Rook and Scrabble and spending time with his family.  A lifelong Democrat, he enjoyed political discussions.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Minister Michael Burnett officiating.  Burial will follow in Reynolds Family Cemetery, Blueberry Ridge, Olive Hill.

Pallbearers:  Richard Parsons, Charlie Kiser, Stephen Irvin, Josh Burnett, William Griffith and Wayne Kiser.

Visitation was after 6 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead.
