Claude Allen Purvis, age 63, of Johnson School Road, Hillsboro, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at St. Joseph East in Lexington.
Born March 10, 1949, in Fleming County, he was a son of the late Oscar and Pearl Link Purvis.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Roark Purvis; two daughters, Teresa Lynn Applegate and fiancé Brian Taulbee of Hillsboro, and Stephanie Shaey Roark and boyfriend Brandon Davis of Lexington; and two grandsons, Jayden Austin Applegate and Landyn Kyle Applegate.
Other survivors include one brother, Harold Ray Link of Bath County; one sister, Violet Jean Byerly of Hillsboro, and other relatives and friends.
Claude was a former carpenter and farmer. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and was of the Church of God faith.
Funeral services were conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Hutton Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Engle officiating. Burial was in the Purvis Family Cemetery on Johnson School Road.
Pallbearers: Brian Taulbee, Robbie Taulbee, Matthew Link, Coty Link, Harold Link, Jr., and Gary Jamison. Honorary Pallbearers: Jayden and Landyn Applegate.
Visitation was from 5 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
