Glen Edgar Johnston
1934 – 2012
Glen Edgar Johnston, 77, of Spring Street South, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the U.K. Markey Cancer Center in Lexington.
He was born September 20, 1934, in Alexandria, West Virginia, a son of the late Oliver Ishmael and Levee Rosie Loudin Johnston. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Donna June Johnston and Roy Linton Johnston.
Glen is survived by his wife, Lorraine Sullivan Johnston, whom he wed April 19, 2008; two sons, Lester Johnston and wife Grace of Staten Island, New York and Kevin Johnston of Colorado; one stepson, Shaun May of Morehead; one daughter, Pamela Tavenier of Michigan; one stepdaughter, Amanda Burton and husband Jon of Morehead; two brothers, Jack Johnston and wife Lana of Essex, Maryland and William Johnston and wife Betty of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister, Betty Farmer of Salt Lick; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his special canine friend and companion, Eddie.
Glen was a self-employed mechanic and retired in 2003 from the Maryland Transit Authority as a supervisor. He enjoyed working on cars and growing flowers. As a nature lover, he especially enjoyed taking pictures of the great outdoors. Glen was a member of the Family of God Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joe Planck officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers: Jon Burton, Jeffrey Sullivan, John Tucker, Dan Stifle, Bobby Tackett and Daniel Hook.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Family of God Baptist Church, 92 Valley Road, Morehead, KY 40351.
