1946 – 2012
Solomon Ralph Burton, 65, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born September 17, 1946, in New Boston, Ohio, he was a son of the late Ralph and Rena Turvey Stevens. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Dawn Burton, who passed away just after her birth in 1976; two brothers, Lewis Edward Stevens and Leonard Burton and his stepfather, Bill Burton.
Solomon is survived by his wife, Loreda Kay Cooper Burton, whom he married March 15, 1976; one daughter, Salome Veronica Burton of Morehead; two brothers, Kenneth Stevens of Bowling Green, Indiana and Bill Burton and wife Linda of McArthur, Ohio; six sisters, Rena Morgan and husband Chuck of Arcanum, Ohio, Joy Fulk of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Mayme Seth and husband Ralph of Ironton, Ohio, Iva Burton of Bowling Green, Indiana, Nava Oliver of Ironton, Ohio and Elphain Preston and husband Tom of Oak Hill, Ohio and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Solomon was a 39-year employee of Veoila Sanitation and a former employee of the U.S. Post Office.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, February 18, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Butch Kelsey and the Reverend Stephen Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in the Purvis Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Bo Lambert, Glen Day, Billy McDaniel, Jr. Wallace, Eddie Burton and Rick Pernell.
Visitation is Friday, February 17, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
