Wreck on KY 519 today

Nov. 9, 2011 — On Nov. 9 at 12:15 p.m., Kentucky State Police in Morehead received a call for service from Rowan County Dispatch in reference to an injury accident on KY 519 in Rowan County near the intersection of KY 801. 

Kathy Stone, 61, of Clearfield was operating a 1994 Buick LeSabre northbound on KY 519.  The vehicle exited the right shoulder of the roadway. 

Stone overcorrected causing the vehicle to travel across the southbound lane of KY 519. The vehicle exited the left shoulder of the roadway and struck a guardrail before coming to final rest. 

Stone was transported to St. Claire Regoinal Medical Center for treatment. 

The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Jackie Cottrell.

  • $100,000 to develop plans for rebuilding City of West Liberty

    Gov. Steve Beshear and Congressman Hal Rogers today announced $100,000 in Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) funds have been approved to help begin the process of rebuilding the city of West Liberty and Morgan County. The entire area suffered extensive damage as a result of the devastating storms and tornados that ripped through Kentucky last month.

  • Local woman stable after being shot

    Unadell Eldridge, former owner of Eldridge and Son Farm Supply, was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center Friday after a former employee, Dewey Brickles, 56, apparently shot her in the lower abdomen.
